rv power center

This RV power control center combines an AC/DC panel with a smart converter charger. Creating easy access to your electrical connections, this all-in-one breaker box distributes AC and DC loads to your RV and charges your batteries while connected to shore power. It's compatible with lithium and lead acid batteries.

AC/DC Electrical Distribution

internal view

The panel supplies AC and DC distribution to your RV's electrical system. The AC section has space for up to 3 breakers rated for 120V at 30 amps. This lets you have up to 6 branch circuits when you use tandem breakers. The DC section has 12 branch fuse holders capable of using (2) 30 amp and (10) 20 amp fuses. However, you will need to purchase AC breakers and DC fuses separately to complete the installation.

inside cover

Once all of your connections are made, the breakers and fuses are easily accessible by opening the door on the front of the box. The door also includes a blank label to list all of the connections.

Multifunctional Converter Charger

switch charging mode

The integrated converter charger changes AC shore power into DC power to charge your battery bank. It includes an output mode switch that lets you choose either lithium or lead acid batteries. No matter what type of battery is installed in your RV, you'll always have the most efficient charging profile. If your RV already has a stock converter charger, it will need to be removed to ensure this unit operates properly.

Charging Profile Designed for Lithium Batteries

In lithium mode, the unit uses a higher output voltage, which provides a fast, complete charge. It also extends battery life since it utilizes the appropriate charging profile. Additionally, this mode is compatible with your battery's internal Battery Management System (BMS), which helps manage the charge cycle by monitoring the battery state and balancing cell voltage.

Charge Wizard for Lead Acid Batteries

In lead acid mode, the Charge Wizard automatically switches voltages while your lead acid battery bank charges. This accelerates the charge but also helps extend battery life by adjusting the voltage during the different modes. This function is compatible with flooded lead acid, AGM, and gel batteries.

Charging Modes

  1. Boost: This mode charges at the full rated load for a quicker recharge time. This is where most of the charging happens. It charges the battery up to 90% of the full capacity.
  2. Normal: This mode provides controlled voltage to ensure a full charge. Once the battery begins to reach capacity, the normal state will kick in and reduce the voltage to safely complete the charge.
  3. Storage: Once the battery reaches full charge and remains unused for 30 hours, this mode maintains a lower voltage to compensate for self-discharge. This reduces battery stress and minimizes gassing and water loss.
  4. Equalization: This mode activates to prevent stratification and sulfate buildup during extended storage cycles. These two issues can damage a battery by causing the accumulation of acid at the bottom of the battery and hardened sulfate crystals on the battery plates. This mode is especially helpful when your battery is going unused during storage.

Safety Features

cooling fan

The system includes a number of safety features. It has a reverse polarity protection that will protect the converter if the battery is hooked up incorrectly. Additionally, the unit includes protection for overvoltage, undervoltage, and overcurrent, which can damage your equipment, as well as the converter. The built-in cooling fan also removes excess heat from the unit. The fan speed is proportional to the internal temperature of the converter, so when the power demand is low, the fan will operate quietly.

Exactly what I ordered. Came quickly.

by:

Took me about 2 days to install had to figure out all the color and number codes on on the DC side, but after figuring out and connecting, everything all works great. My battery is now staying charged, yahoo!

by:

Great Service. The item arrived very quickly and was installed without any problems. Everything is good.

by:

More than what I needed but is worth it for the price
More than happy with it.

by:

Solved all my power needs. Was plug and play, fit right into the old location without needing to cut for sizing.

by:

So far works great, The directions included were easy to follow. But I would say that a person should be comfortable working with electrical wiring techniques. In my case the 30 year old Mag-Tech power center I was replacing had been messed with and some of the wiring in there was not fuse protected. So some wire tracing and installing the proper fuses was done ensuring a safe proper installation.

by:

Great product great price and fast shi pping

by:

Device was delivered in good condition and 2 days early.
The service was excellent and met my expectations.

by:

Easy to install
Arrived in good cond
ition.
Thanks

by:

It was a very easy installation by marking each wire and fuse/breaker as I took the old unit out and replaced with this new current technology unit. I like that it has a switch to change between LA/AGM vs Lithium batteries as they charge at different voltages. Wired it in and everything works as it should.

by:

Installed this in my 166fbs JAYCO a year ago when I went to lifpo4 batteries. Works great!

by:

The install was fairly easy and went well. It seems to be charging my AGM batteries appropriately at this time. It has only been in the camper 3 days now but is working as planned. I purchased this upgrade to my previous power center so that in the future I could upgrade to Lion lithium batteries. My only complaint is not about the functioning of the unit but due to one simple area I think the unit is lacking in. That is the size and location of the changeover switch to switch from lead acid to lithium batteries. The switch is so small that it is hard to find and recognize. It would be great if the switch were located in an easier to see and more accessable location. So, the switch needs to be enlarged and the lettering indicating the proper position for lead acid vs Lithium were hard to see and distinguish to the side of the micro switch. If the switch was larger and the lettering indicating proper switch positioning was also enlarged I would give it a 5 star review. But for me those two things were problamatic.

Fast, Fast shipping! Its nice to work with a company that processes orders quickly and efficiently.

The PD4045KA is a perfect replacement for the Elixir-20 used in a Little Guys 5-wide teardrop. Had to cut out about 3/4" on the bottom and about 1/4" on the top of wood mounting hole to fit. Wiring was simple. Two things to note: 1) On the PD4045KA, main hot (black) I wired to a 20A main breaker (much better implementation), as opposed to the Elixir-20 which was wired to the hot bus bar (The PD provides a master power cutoff via the 20A breaker); 2) The PD did not come with a DC ground bus bar to ground DC circuits (I stole one from Elixir and mounted it to the plastic back of the PD). I reused the breakers from the Elixir which was 20A master and a 15A for the converter. I purchased an additional 15A breaker for the AC outlets. Great product from etrailer. They shipped it immediately and emailed me to let me know. I did not need suport, but etrailer provides excellent support (I've used their support on other purchases.)

I had an Elixer ELX-20 which was sounding an alarm every time I plugged it into shore power. After much research (and an inquiry to Progressive Dynamics customer service), I landed on this PD4045KA unit. If you don't have an ELX-20, the rest of this review may not matter much to you.

Installation was not as difficult as I had expected. It's not a 1:1 direct replacement, so here are the things I did (again, not difficult).

1. Cut-out. Had to enlarge the height by about 3/4 of an inch for this unit to fit. Easily done with a jigsaw. Width of the existing ELX-20 opening worked just fine.

2. ELX-20 shore power +(BLK) connection was directly connected to a bus bar. In the PD unit, it needs to be connected to a dedicated 30A breaker. I picked up a Siemens at HD and installed it in position #1 (MAIN).

3. AC position #2, I bought a 15Amp Siemens breaker from HD. This was for the bare black wire that comes with the PD unit. It's for the AC to the DC converter.

The rest of your Romex connections...re-use your breakers. Just make sure to label your Romex as you are taking your old unit out.

As far as the DC side, just be sure to label everything as you take it apart. You can still find the Elx-20 wiring diagram online. On the PD unit, I did a continuity test and labeled all of the DC cables coming out of the back (2 red and a bunch of black). The red are for higher amperage if needed. As I disconnected the ELX-20 DC connections, I made note of what position I would put them in on the PD unit.

I hope this helps someone with the old Elixir ELX-20 as they are prone to fail and this is a very suitable replacement.

This goes without saying, etrailer is the best of the best. Do not hesitate for a second to order from them. Their service is impeccable!

I received my Converter and have just installed it yesterday after retuning from a month long trip to Wyoming. I watched your You-Tube video on the installation, but because I have a battery on-off switch mounted in my storage box up front of my NuCamp TAB 320, it has caused me to pause my install. I need to know if your tech could tell me if I need to route an additional neutral and ground I turn back on my Shore Power and Batteries? This would be really helpful if Chase included it in his install video. I included his video link. I had also asked a question on the you Tube link, but never really got an answer, but I figured that one out. This unit was a perfect replecement fit for the WFCO Model WF-8735P. No modifications to the original opening whatsoever. The 4th photo is one of the wires in question. Do I need to run another one on the PG 4000 to complete the install. Thank you, Kevin

Hey Kevin, you do not need to run an additional neutral and ground wire when installing with you having the battery on-off switch installed. I am glad it was a great fitment for you as a replacement. What kind of trailer are you installing it on?

Hoping plastic frame will last in hot climates. All pre-connected solders seem well done. It’s a small space to work but the access holes in the back help keep wires organized.
Email prior to purchasing to confirm delivery date. Initial delivery date for me wasn’t correct but as soon as you contact Etrailer with ANY questions they get back to you incredibly quickly. EXCELLENT customer service.
I would recommend this company.

by:

Works as advertised and easy to install and add circuits to...running my air conditioner, hot water tank off the AC side and my water pump, exhaust fan and lights off the DC side...great product!

This says it’s for lithium but doesn’t have a way to stop charging when battery is full causes the battery to shut down bms. This is my second box. First one didn’t even charge properly with surges didn’t buy from you. I guess I would clarify the lifo charge ability. Also wiring instructions need some help. Even youtube videos are weak from everyone.

I completely understand your frustration, and you’re asking the right questions here. The PD4045KA is lithium compatible, but it does not shut off charging when the battery is full. Instead, it holds a steady lithium voltage around 14.4 to 14.6 volts and relies on the battery’s internal BMS to stop charging. What you’re seeing with the BMS shutting down is actually normal behavior for this type of converter, but it can feel like something is wrong because of that on and off cycling. The first thing I would double check is that the unit is actually set to lithium mode, since that is not controlled from the front panel on this model. You’ll need to turn off AC power, open up the distribution panel, and access the converter board itself. Depending on when it was made, there will either be a small switch or a jumper on the board. If it has a switch, flip it to the lithium setting. If it uses a jumper, you’ll move it over to the pins labeled for lithium. Once that is set correctly, the converter will hold that proper lithium charge voltage. I know the wiring and instructions can feel pretty lacking, and you’re not alone in that. Making sure you have solid connections and proper wire size going straight to the battery can help reduce surging or inconsistent behavior. If you want to send me a photo of the board, I can help you determine if it's lithium mode or not. Happy to help!

It really was simple to install. I replaced a WFCO 8735 lead acid converter with the Progressive Dynamics 4045 so that I could charge lithium. The 4045 converter slides into the existing hole that the 8735 was in (exact fit with no cutting). I am not an electrical guy but found the install was pretty straight forward. My DC camper wires were black and not color coded. I removed them from the WCFO box one at a time and labeled what amp rated fuse they were attached to and what item in my camper they were powering. The new PD 4045 converter has a bundle of black wires coming out the back that are from the fuse block. If you look closely at each wire, they are labeled with a number that corresponds to the fuse number on the fuse board. Simply hook your camper wires one at a time to the 4045-wire bundle and install the appropriate amp rated fuse into the fuse holder. One thing that confused me was the WCFO has battery positive 12v attached to a 30-amp fuse on the circuit board for mounting the fuses. Whatever camper wire you removed from this location now hooks to the incoming 12v power on 4045 box. They give you a good illustration. There are 2 fairly large red wires coming out of the back of the 4045 box. These are only used if you need a 30- or 40-amp fuse for a large current item. An example would be the motor for the slide out on the camper. Since my camper is small, I did not need to connect these red wires to anything. All of my fuses are only 15 amps. The manual switch for setting the 4045 to lithium is very tiny so look closely for it. I purposely wanted this converter because it has a manual switch to set it for lead acid or lithium and it stays there. Seems like there are a lot of internet posts out there complaining their auto-detect converters not correctly adjusting to charge lithium. I paired this converter with a 100ah Eco Worthy battery. The battery connects to my iPhone through an app that is very easy to use. The battery was delivered with a 30% charge. The PD 4045 took my battery to full charge in about 2.5 hours and was charging at a 17.8-amp rate. So, there was no need to increase the size of the 12v wire from the battery to the converter. And it is also very quiet when the fan kicks on. I am very happy that I converted from lead acid battery to lithium!
